are their too many reality shows on british tv?
personally, I think that their are
looking at just the ITV network, their is britain's got tallent, the voice, dancing on ice, the X-factor (which is set for a return), love island, I'm a celebrity, probably others- and that's just one network
add the apprentice, bake off, junior bakeoff, I can see your voice, strictly, the great british sewing bee, I think their are too many- and their needs to be more variety
when was the last time their was a good comedy, say, or a good drama that lasted longer than 6 episodes

A bean counter presented with a 12 x 60 blockbuster drama that's got no guarantee of attracting a big audience and could generate a loss or a 13 episode run of an established reality/game show format that is a guaranteed 5-6m viewers is gonna take the latter. Comedy has clearly been the biggest weakness in scheduling for the last few years - Ghosts perhaps the most notable along with Inside No 9 / Motherland (which has been inexplicably cancelled). The two areas that really need focussing on for me are removing the dependence on soaps - which are relics of a bygone era, increasing drama output and commissioning far more comedy. I'd also love to see more music focussed programmes.

I wasn't even aware of that and ghosts is good for sure as for music shows, I am not sure I can even think of one. I remember top of the pops back in the day, CDUK, that one in the mornings on channel 4 (I forget the name, but it used to wake me up at 7:00) but I suppose the issue their is, nowadays, with all the music channels, who wants music programmes on the main channels? it would be nice to see, for sure, but would it get ratings is what I'm saying.

Yeah, a little while back. Probably not - given the last attempt at it failed however that was a complete. I think if you could run it on a Thursday night and convince the acts to debut their new songs on it it could rate well, but beyond that music is on the internet.
